Gilford Frank Dashner was born on 2 November 1946.
On 18 September 1968, Private First Class Gilford Frank Dashner was serving with D Company, 1st Battalion, 20th Infantry, 11th Infantry Brigade, in Quang Ngai Province, South Vietnam.
On that day, PFC Dashner was killed in action when he sustained wounds from small arms fire. His body was recovered. He received a posthumous promotion to the rank of Corporal.
