William Ray Dalrymple was born on 13 March 1947 in Hoquiam, WA.

On 26 May 1967, Lance Corporal William Ray Dalrymple was serving with L Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division, in Quang Tin Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, LCpl Dalrymple was killed in action when he sustained wounds from artillery, rocket or mortar fire. His body was recovered.
