Gerald Richard Clemson was born on 30 May 1947.

On 8 February 1968, Private First Class Gerald Richard Clemson was serving with A Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, PFC Clemson was killed in action when he sustained wounds from an explosive device. His body was recovered.
