Larry Gene Burkholder was born on 5 November 1948.

On 5 October 1969, Private First Class Larry Gene Burkholder was serving with B Company, 5th Battalion, 46th Infantry Regiment, 198th Infantry Brigade, in Quang Ngai Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, PFC Burkholder was killed in action when he sustained multiple fragmentation wounds. His body was recovered.
