Dana E. Brann was born on 8 August 1946 in Salem, MA, the son of Edward and Shirley Tappan Brann.

On 16 November 1965, Warrant Officer Dana E. Brann was serving with 120th Aviation Company, 145th Aviation Battalion, in South Vietnam.

On that day, Warrant Officer Brann was killed in an accidental homicide by another person that was cleaning a weapon.
