On 22 January 1968, PFC David Andrew Bingham was serving with F Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division in Quang Tri Province in South Vietnam.

On that day, PFC Bingham was killed in action when he sustained wounds from small arms fire.
