Tommy Joe Becker was born on 14 September 1953 in Madison Heights, MI.

On 18 April 1972, PFC Tommy Joe Becker was serving with 60th Assault Helicopter Company, 10th Aviation Battalion, 17th Aviation Group, 1st Aviation Brigade in Phu Yen Province, South Vietnam. On that day, PFC Becker was killed in the crash of the helicopter in which he was serving as a crew member (gunner).
