Rob George McSorley Rob George McSorley was born on 26 March 1951 in Westmount, Quebec, Canada. Although he was a Canadian citizen, he chose to enlist in the U.S. Army and fight in the war in South Vietnam. Ironically, some American citizens moved to his country to avoid that war. On 8 April 1970, Specialist Four Rob George McSorley was serving with L Company, 75th Infantry (Rangers), 10st Airborne Division, in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam. On that day, SP4 McSorley was killed in action when he sustained wounds from small arms fire while on a reconnaissance mission near Khe Sahn. His body was recovered. Colonel Robert Guy, U.S. Army (Ret.) was the Company Commander of L Company when Rob was killed and he said this, " I will never forget his bravery and his spirit. He was a Ranger!" Medals, Badges and Tab Silver Star Medal Honors The name Rob G McSorley is located on Panel 12W Line 107 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. Burial Specialist Four Rob George McSorley is interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Our country owes him an eternal debt of gratitude! |
