Robert William Sennewald Robert William Sennewald was born on 21 November 1929. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in 1951 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps upon his graduation from Iowa State University with a degree in Physical Education. While at Iowa State he was affiliated with Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. General Sennewald is the recipient of an Iowa State University Distinguished Alumni Award. His major commands include: Commander-in-Chief, United Nations Command / Commander-in-Chief, Republic of Korea / U.S. Combined Forces Command / Commander, United States Forces Korea / Commanding General, Eighth United States Army (CINCUNC/CINCCFC/COMUSFK/CG EUSA) from 1982 to 1984; Commanding General, U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) from 1984 to 1986. Sennewald was promoted to four-star General on 24 May 1982. He retired from the Army in 1986. In Retirement In 1994, he established Sennewald Associates which does consulting work on national security issues. He has served as: Chairman of the Army and Air Force Mutual Aid Association; on the board of the Armed Services YMCA; and on the Advisory Council of the U.S. Field Artillery Association. Sennewald was married to Nancy Vance Sennewald, who died on 29 October 2003 and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. |
