Morris Henry Brown, Jr. Morris Henry Brown, Jr. was the son of Morris Henry Brown, Sr., and Hedwig Wilhelmina Deutschlander Brown. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on 21 September 1942 in Buffalo, NY. In April 1945, Corporal Morris Henry Brown, Jr. was serving with Company D, 781st Tank Battalion, 100th Infantry Division, Seventh U.S. Army. On 7-8 April, CPL Brown's unit was in action against German forces near Heilbronn, Germany. CPL Brown's courageous actions and extraordinary heroism during that period, at the cost of his life, earned him the U.S. Army's second highest award for valor, the Distinguished Service Cross. On 9 April, CPL Brown Died of Wounds suffered in battle. Medals and Awards Distinguished Service Cross Distinguished Service Cross Citation (Synopsis) Corporal Morris H. Brown, Jr. (ASN: 12167187), United States Army, was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving with Company D, 781st Tank Battalion, in action against enemy forces on 7 and 8 April 1945. Corporal Brown's intrepid actions, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty at the cost of his life, exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
