Charles E. Shannon Charles E. Shannon was born in 1923 in Pittsburgh, PA. Shannon graduated from South High School at Youngstown, OH, in 1941. He graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, Long Island, in 1944; attended Youngstown University; and received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland. He served in the Merchant Marine from 1942-46. He entered the Air Force in 1949 and received his pilot wings and commission after completing flight training in 1950 at Vance AFB, Enid, OK. He was Vice Commander at the Oklahoma City installation at Tinker Air Force Base from October 1973 to June 1976. At the time of his death, he was Assistant Director for Installations and Logistics, National Security Agency, Fort George G. Meade, MD. Medals and Awards Legion of Merit Death and Burial Brigadier General Charles E. Shannon died on 9 April 1977 at Fort Meade, MD. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. |
