David Stuart Parker David Stuart Parker was born on 22 March 1919 at Ft. Huachuca, AZ. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in 1940 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. During World War II, he served on the Administrative Staffs of Admiral Chester Nimitz and General Douglas MacArthur. After the war, he was Chief of Construction Division, Office of Chief Engineer in Tokyo, Japan, 1945-48. He was Professor of Military Topography Graphics at West Point from 1949-52; Assistant District Engineer USACE in Portland, OR, 1954-56; and, as a Brigadier General, was Chief of Strategic Planning Group, Office of Chief Engineer, 1957-60. From 1968-69, he was Commander of the Engineer Troops in Vietnam and in 1971 he was appointed Governor of the Panama Canal Zone, serving in that position until he retired as a Major General in 1975. Death and Burial Major General David Stuart Parker died on 9 May 1990. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. |
