Peter Horry
Brigadier General, South Carolina Militia

Peter Horry was born in 1747 in South Carolina.

A planter of French Huguenot descent, he was born in South Carolina circa 1747. He was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Revolutionary War and was later a Brigadier General in the South Carolina Militia.

He represented Prince George Winyah and All Saints Parishes in the South Carolina State House and Senate. In 1801, Kingston County was renamed Horry County in his honor.

Death and Burial

Peter Horry died on 28 February 1815. He is buried at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral Cemetery in Columbia, SC.
