Biography:

SGT Roy Donald Hutting

Roy was born in New Jersey, on December 16, 1946. He then relocated to Fort Myers, when he was about 3 years old. He had one brother and two sisters. He grew up here, but moved back to New Jersey to finish high school, living with his oldest sister and brother-in-law.

He joined the Army with a bunch of his buddies. He was sent to Vietnam where he served with Co A, 25th Infantry Division stationed at Cu Chi. During his first tour of duty, he was an aerial gunner for Shotgun Platoon XI. He was posthumously awarded an Air Medal and Bronze Star, on October 25, 1966,

On September 25, 1966, on his second tour in Vietnam the personnel carrier he was riding through the jungle on rolled over a mine killing him instantly. He was ready to move on to his new duty base in the next couple of days.

Roy was, awarded a Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart w/Bronze Oak Cluster Medal, Air Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service w/2 Bronze Stars Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Medals.
