Graduate, inaugural U.S. Air Force Academy class of 1959.
MIA, Southeast Asia (SEA) during the Vietnam War when the F-4C fighter jet aircraft he piloted from the 557th Tactical Fighter Squadron was hit by anti-aircraft fire during a strafing run in North Vietnam on 12 October 1967. His crewman, Captain John K. Hardy, is also MIA.
Promoted while in MIA status by the U.S. Air Force from Captain to Colonel.
One of 151 USAFA grduates who made the ultimate sacrifice in SEA during the Vietnam War.
As of 22 February 2019, one of 1,589 Americans who remain unaccounted for in SEA and one of 42 USAFA alumni still MIA.
