Leonard Covington Leonard Covington was born on 30 October 1768 in Aquasco, MD. Covington served as a U.S. Congressman from Maryland during 1805-07. Covington served in the Northwest Indian War under General Anthony Wayne, where he distinguished himself at Fort Recovery and the Battle of Fallen Timbers. As a Brigadier General, he also fought in the War of 1812 and was mortally wounded in the Battle of Crysler's Farm. He died three days later at French's Mills, NY. Honors The following are named in honor of Leonard Covington: Covington, VA Death and Burial Brigadier General Leonard Covington was killed in action on 14 November 1813 in Sackets Harbor, NY. He is buried at the Military Cemetery in Sackets Harbor, NY. |
