Herman Carol Acker
Seaman Apprentice, U.S. Navy

On 1 October 1972, Seaman Apprentice Herman Carol Acker was serving on USS Newport News (CA-148), Task Force 77, 7th Fleet, off the coast of South Vietnam.

On that day, SA Acker was killed in action (due to hostile action) by Misadventure (Friendly Fire). His body was recovered.
