Private Taylor was a member of Company B, 376th Engineer Construction Battalion, U.S. Army. On 29 July 1951, while on leave, he was boating on the Suyong River, tried to swim to shore and drowned.

Taylor was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
