Phil H. Bucklew Phil H. Bucklew was born on 18 December 1914. Bucklew played in the National Football League for the Cleveland Rams from 1937 to 1938 after being a college star at Xavier University in Ohio. He Commanded Navy scout boats during Allied landings in Sicily and during the Normandy invasion on D-Day during World War II. He commanded the SEALs during Korea and Vietnam; their training center in Coronado, CA, is named the Phil H. Bucklew Center for U.S. Navy Special Warfare. Death and Burial Captain Phil H. Bucklew died on 30 December 1992 in Fairfax City, VA. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. |
