|
Lieutenant Purdy was a veteran of World War II. During the Korean War, he was a pilot of a single engine torpedo bomber at Brown Field, San Diego, California. On 17 December 1952, while practicing landing on simulated Naval aircraft carriers, he crashed on the runway and was killed. Purdy was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. |
