Corporal Legall was a member of the 44th Ordinance Depot Company, U.S. Army. He suffered an abdominal lymphoma and was evacuated to the 123rd Medical Holding Company in South Korea where he died on 3 November 1952.

Legall was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
