Corporal Hollar was a member of the Replacement Company, 25th Infantry Division located at Chonchon, South Korea. He died as a result of an accidental firing of a .45 caliber pistol by another soldier on 25 April 1952.

Hollar was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
