Private First Class Barron was a member of the 13th Engineer Combat Battalion, 7th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on 6 July 1953.

Barron was awarded the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
