Private First Class Roberts was a member of the 388th Engineer Pipeline Company, U.S. Army. He received a severe electric shock when his crane came into contact with a high voltage line and was taken to the 21st Evacuation Hospital where he died on 6 December 1952.

Roberts was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
