Alvin Ernest Kuonen Alvin Ernest Kuonen was born on 18 July 1918 in Arkansas. He was the son of Emil and Augusta Kuonen. Military Service Alvin entered the U.S. Navy from Spokane, WA, where he was a Ship's Clerk, Second Class. He was on the USS Jarvis (DD-393) when it was sunk and his body is lost at sea. Medals and Awards Purple Heart (Awarded Posthumously) Death and Memorial Ship's Clerk Second Class Alvin Ernest Kuonen was considered Missing in Action / Lost at Sea on 12 July 1945. Alvin's memorial was placed during the Memorial Day weekend in 2006 and the family had a memorial service for him and the marker was unveiled. The cenotaph is located at Pleasant Prairie Cemetery in Spokane, Spokane County, WA. |
