Stanley Edward Butler
Technician 5th Grade
U.S. Army Air Forces

Stanley Edward Butler was born on 5 January 1914 in Batavia, NY. He was the son of Frank Edward and Harriet May (Norris) Butler.

Stan served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He married Hazel Jean Milham in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia on 5 August 1944, at St. Augustine's Church of England, Hamilton, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and had a son who remained with his grandmother in Australia when Hazel went to the U.S in May 1946. His son never had any further contact with Stan after his mother's departure for the U.S.

He and his Australian wife had two more children, Lynette Jean and Jeffrey Lynn, born in the U.S., but divorced soon after and both eventually remarried.

He was a widower at the time of his death and living in, Batavia.

After much research, contact was established with Hazel in 1992, just 18 months before she was killed in Pittsburgh while crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing.

Stan Butler died on 3 May 1977 in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Batavia from arteriosclerotic heart disease from which he had suffered for several years. He is buried at Cary Cemetery in Oakfield, Genesee County, NY.

He is fondly remembered by his son John, in Australia.
