Corporal Eaves was a member of Company L, 3rd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regimental Combat Team. He was seriously wounded by the enemy near Masogu-ri, South Korea on 18 May 1951 and returned to duty on 15 June 1951. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy near Kaeya-ri, North Korea on 18 October 1951.
Eaves was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
