Forrest Edward "Frosty" Best Forrest Edward Best was born on 24 January 1939 in Cordell, OK. he was the son of Charley Edward and Esther Josephine (Cooper) Best. He graduated from North West Classen High School in 1957. He spent one year at Southwestern State College, Weatherford OK, then Oklahoma State University. He worked for Central Fixtures Mfg. Co.(TG&Y) in the summer and during holidays. Military Service Forrest was drafted into the U.S. Army on 1 October 1961. He was in basic training at Fort Carson, CO, did one tour of duty in Korea, and spent the last six months at Fort Sill, OK. On 1 October 1963, he was discharged from active duty. He then served two years in the active reserve, two years in the inactive reserve, and was honorably discharged in 1968. Post-Military Life After being discharged from active duty, he went back to work for TG&Y. Forrest and Kay were married on 23 October 1963. Forrest obtained the nickname 'Frosty' from Kay because he was a very happy person and a loving husband, father, & grandfather. In 1967, he became an installation engineer and traveled the U.S. installing TG&Y stores. He Death and Burial Forrest Edward Best died at his brother's ranch from a heart attack on 11 April 1999, while riding a motorcycle. Kay said that he had spent a good day with his brother and cousin. She also said she didn't think he ever knew when he fell off his bike; he had only gone a few feet when he fell, and the bike kept going. He is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Shawnee, OK, in Plot C-R3-3. |
