Charles Luers Nordsiek Lieutenant, U.S. Navy Medal of Honor Recipient Occupation of Veracruz Lieutenant Charles Luers Nordsiek (19 April 1896 - 9 March 1937) was a U.S. Navy sailor who received the U.S. military's highest award for valor, the Medal of Honor, for his heroic actions during the Occupation of Veracruz. Charles Luers Nordsiek was born on 19 April 1896 in New York City, NY. Medal of Honor Rank and organization: Seaman, U.S. Navy Citation: On board the U.S.S. Florida, Nordsiek showed extraordinary heroism in the line of his profession during the seizure of Vera Cruz, Mexico, 21 and 22 April 1914. Death and Burial Lieutenant Charles Luers Nordsiek died 9 March 1937. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA, in Section 7, Lot 10230-SS. |
