Warren Julius Shepherd Corporal, U.S. Army Medal of Honor Recipient Spanish-American War Corporal Warren Julius Shepherd (28 September 1871- 22 April 1942) was a U.S. Army soldier who received the U.S. military's highest award for valor, the Medal of Honor, for his heroic actions during the Spanish-American War. Warren Julius Shepard was born on 28 September 1871 in Cherry Tree, PA, and entered the Army from Westover, PA. He was sent to fight in the Spanish-American War with Company D, 17th U.S. Infantry where he received the Medal of Honor. Medal of Honor Rank and organization: Corporal, U.S. Army, Company D, 17th U.S. Infantry Place and date: Caney, Cuba, 1 July 1898 Citation: Gallantly assisted in the rescue of the wounded from in front of the lines under heavy fire from the enemy. Death and Burial Corporal Warren Julius Shepherd died on 22 April 1942. He is buried at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, California, in Resthaven Plot, Lot 21, Center Grave C. |
