William G. Keller Corporal, U.S. Army Medal of Honor Recipient Spanish-American War Corporal William G. Keller (19 April 1876 - 20 September 1963) was a U.S. Army soldier who received the U.S. military's highest award for valor, the Medal of Honor, for his heroic actions during the Spanish-American War. William G. Keller was born on 19 April 1876 in Buffalo, NY, and entered the Army from the same location. He served in the Spanish-American War with Company F, 10th U.S. Infantry where he received the Medal of Honor. Medal of Honor Rank and organization: Private, U.S. Army, Company F, 10th U.S. Infantry Place and date: Santiago, Cuba, 1 July 1898 Citation: Gallantly assisted in the rescue of the wounded from in front of the lines and under heavy fire of the enemy. Death and Burial Corporal William G. Keller died on 20 September 1963. He is buried at Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland, OH. |
