Ashley I. White Stumpf Ashley I. White was born in Alliance, OH, on 3 September 1987. She graduated from Marlington High School in Alliance in 2005 and then attended Kent State University. Upon graduating from Kent State, she was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army National Guard. Her military education includes the Medical Service Corps Officer Basic Course at Fort Sam Houston, TX, and the U.S. Army Airborne Course at Fort Benning, GA. In August 2011, White was assigned to the 230th Brigade Support Battalion, 30th Heavy Brigade Combat Team, North Carolina National Guard, Goldsboro, NC, and deployed to serve her first tour in Afghanistan as an Evacuation Platoon Leader. On 22 October 2011, Stumpf was deployed in Kandahar Province and was killed in action when the assault force she was with triggered a hidden roadside bomb. Also killed in the explosion were Army Ranger Sergeant First Class Kristoffer B. Domeij, age 29, and Army Ranger Private First Class Christopher A. Horns, age 20.
