Ronald Alan Kubik Ronald Alan Kubik enlisted in the U.S. Army in March 2007. He completed Infantry One Station Unit Training, the Basic Airborne Course and the Ranger Indoctrination Program at Fort Benning, GA. After graduating from the Army Ranger Course, he was assigned to Company D, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment in October 2007 where he served as an assistant machine gunner and a team leader. On 23 April 2010, then-Sergeant Ronald Alan Kubik was serving as a rifle team leader with Company D, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, while deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. On that day, SGT Kubik’s unit was engaged in combat action against enemy forces in Logar Province, Afghanistan. As SGT Kubik's Ranger team successfully tracked down a high-ranking Taliban operative, he sustained serious wounds while protecting 29 soldiers and civilians and died of his wounds. SGT Kubik’s courageous actions that day earned him, at the cost of his life, the U.S. Army's third highest award for valor, the Silver Star Medal. Medals, Awards, Badges and Tabs Silver Star Medal Silver Star Medal Citation (Synopsis) The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Sergeant Ronald Alan Kubik, United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in connection with military operations against the enemy while serving with the 3d Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, in action in Logar Province, Afghanistan, on 23 April 2010, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. Sergeant Kubik sacrificed himself to protect 29 soldiers and civilians as his team of Rangers successfully tracked down a high-ranking Taliban operative. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army. Burial Sergeant Ronald Alan Kubik is buried at the Brig Gen Wm C Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown, Burlington County, NJ, in Section KE, Site 3073. |
