Biography: | ||||
Trevor Arthur Blumberg Trevor Arthur Blumberg was born on 1 August 1981 in Detroit, MI. Trevor attended Plymouth Salem High School in Canton, MI. Although he was small at 5 foot-7 inches and weighing 165 pounds, he played as an offensive lineman on his high school football team. Still, he worked harder than anyone else on the team. Trevor always gave 100 percent in everything he did, whether it was playing football, hitting the books or serving his country. Gary Brokas was celebrating his daughter's fourth birthday at Chuck E. Cheese's, when the signature giant mouse pulled him to the side. "Hey Mr. Brokas, it's me, Trevor," the mouse whispered in his ear. Brokas, who helped teach Trevor's high school marketing class, said he had no idea the popular senior football player moonlighted as a masked mouse. "He was a good football player, but he also had that caring side, that sensitive side," Brokas said. "That was just incredible." After joining the U.S. Army, Trevor was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, at Fort Bragg, NC. He and his unit were deployed to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom. On 14 September 2003, Sergeant Blumberg was on patrol on the western edge of Fallujah. His Humvee was turning around in a gap in the four-lane highway's guardrails, when two improvised explosive devices struck his vehicle, killing Trevor. Trevor was well-liked in his military company and in the platoon; he always smiled, always carried on. Staff Sgt. Kyle Foster, commander of the vehicle Trevor was in, said this, "I hate to put it this way, but there are soldiers that you can kill and it wouldn't affect the company. This time they picked the best one to kill to break morale." Badge, Medals and Awards Burial Sergeant Trevor Arthur Blumberg was buried at Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock, Wayne County, MI. |
