Burton Ward Dalke was born on 9 December 1948.

On 6 May 1969, Specialist Four Burton Ward Dalke was serving with D Company, 2nd Battalion, 39th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division, in Dinh Tuong Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, SP4 Dalke was killed in action when he sustained multiple fragmentation wounds. His body was recovered.
