On 2 March 1969, Lance Corporal Anthony Boy Curci was serving with Headquarters & Service Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division, in Quang Nam Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, LCpl Curci was killed in action when he sustained wounds from an explosive device. His body was recovered.
