John Wesley Cobb was born on 29 April 1946.

On 8 February 1966, Private First Class John Wesley Cobb was serving with F Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Amphibious Force, in Quang Ngai Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, PFC Cobb was killed in an accidental homicide. His body was recovered.
