James Thomas Clark was born on 12 April 1946.

On 17 August 1965, Private James Thomas Clark was serving with H Company, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Amphibious Force, in Quang Nam Province, South Vietnam.

On that day, Private Clark was killed in action when he sustained wounds from small arms fire. His body was recovered.
