Seth S. Botts On 22 November 1944, Captain Seth S. Botts was serving with 3rd Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, First U.S. Army in the European Theater of Operations. On that day, CPT Botts' unit was in action against German forces. CPT Botts' outstanding leadership and courageous actions that day earned him the U.S. Army's second highest award for valor, the Distinguished Service Cross. Medals, Awards and Badges Distinguished Service Cross Distinguished Service Cross Citation (Synopsis) Captain (Infantry) Seth S. Botts (ASN: 0-339785), United States Army, was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving with the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, in action against enemy forces on 22 November 1944. Captain Botts' outstanding leadership, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty at the cost of his life, exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself, the 1st Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
