John G. Lorber General, U.S. Air Force John G. Lorber was born on 25 December 1941 in Waverly, IA. Lorber graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1964 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force. He flew as a fast-moving Forward Air Controller (FAC) in Vietnam and has commanded a fighter squadron and wing. On 12 October 1994, Lorber was promoted to the four-star rank of General and assigned as Commander, Pacific Air Forces (COMPACAF). General Lorber retired from the Air Force on 25 June 1997. During his service, he became a Command Pilot with over 5,000 flying hours, primarily in fighter aircraft. The aircraft flown include the T-33, T-37, F-4, F-16, F-15 and F-111.
