Alexander M. Greig On 7 July 1944, Staff Sergeant Alexander M. Greig was serving with Company L, 363rd Infantry Regiment, 91st Infantry Division, Fifth U.S. Army. On that day, SSG Greig’s unit was in action against German forces during the Rome-Arno Campaign. SSG Greig’s courageous actions and extraordinary heroism that day, at the cost of his life, earned him the U.S. Army's second highest award for valor, the Distinguished Service Cross.
