Ralph F. Darragh Ralph F. Darragh was born in New Brunswick, NJ, the son of John and Lillian Darragh. He was a graduate of St. Peter's High School and was employed at the Paterson plant of the Wright Aeronautical Corporation. He entered the U.S. Army in June 1944. On 18 April 1945, Private First Class Ralph F. Darragh was serving with Company C, 361st Infantry Regiment, 91st Infantry Division, Fifth U.S. Army. On that day, PFC Darragh's unit was in action against German forces. PFC Darragh' courageous actions and extraordinary heroism that day, at the cost of his life earned him the U.S. Army's second highest award for valor, the Distinguished Service Cross. Medals, Awards and Badges Distinguished Service Cross Distinguished Service Cross Citation (Synopsis) Private First Class Ralph F. Darragh (ASN: 42142537), United States Army, was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving with Company C, 361st Infantry Regiment, 91st Infantry Division, in action against enemy forces on 18 April 1945. Private First Class Darragh's intrepid actions, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty at the cost of his life, exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself, the 91st Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
