Trevor Andrew Roberts Trevor Andrew Roberts joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves while in his senior year at Westmoore High School in Oklahoma City, OK. After graduating from Westmoore in 2004, he attended Marine Combat Training School at Camp Pendelton, CA and then the Marine Artillery Detachment at Fort Sill, OK. Roberts then attended Oklahoma City Community College for one year before he was placed on active duty with the Marines. Roberts was one of 30 people from his unit who volunteered to go to Iraq as an Artillery Specialist. On 24 March 2007, then-Lance Corporal Roberts was serving with the Marine Corps Reserves' 2nd Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division and attached to Regimental Combat Team-2, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), while deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq. He had been there for 7 months. On that date, at about 8:00 PM, LCpl Roberts’ unit was suddenly engaged in combat action when the Humvee vehicle in which he was riding hit an improvised explosive device (IED) on the roadside in Al Anbar Province, Western Iraq. LCpl Roberts was in the right rear passenger seat when the explosion occurred and was Killed in Action. LCpl Roberts died just 12 days before he was scheduled to return home.
