Daniel Joseph Allman II Daniel Joseph Allman II was born on 21 August 1986 in Walton County, GA, the son of Daniel Joseph and Amanda Walters Allman. Daniel grew up in Walton County, attending local schools through middle school before moving to Franklin County with his mother, Amanda Reese, and younger brother. After graduating from Franklin County High School in 2005, Daniel fulfilled his dream of being in the military by enlisting in the U.S. Army. Following completion of Basic and Advanced Individual Training, Allman was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, based in Schweinfurt, Germany. At the time of his death, his unit was serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In a combat operation in Baghdad on 13 November 2006, PFC Allman was the gunner in a 2-man Humvee and PFC Jang Ho Kim was the driver. Both men were assigned to the Mortar Platoon, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment 'Blue Spaders.'Their Humvee was the first vehicle in line in the combat patrol and it was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED). Both men were killed instantly. The explosion was so great that it took three months to separate the two soldiers' remains, which could be identified only by DNA. PFC Allman was due to go home for Thanksgiving. He died four days before his flight.
