Brandon Lee Teeters briefly attended Centerville High School before attending a Christian school in Bayou Vista, LA. He subsequently acquired his GED. He was remembered in high school as an excellent student who was never in any trouble. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved spending time with his friends and family telling jokes and making one another laugh. He loved the water and especially fishing, boating, frogging and crawfishing. Brandon was a passionate patriot that believed in God and his country. Even as a young teen, Brandon already knew he wanted to join the military. He joined the U.S. Army on 3 June 2004 and was trained as a Cavalry Scout at Fort Knox, KY. In December 2005, his unit, the 8th Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, based at Fort Hood, TX, was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. On 20 April 2006, SGT Teeters suffered burns over 85 percent of his body when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated near his Bradley Fighting Vehicle during combat operations in Baghdad, Iraq. He arrived at the Landstuhl, Germany, Regional Medical Center on 21 April but, due to the extent and nature of his burns, he was sent to a German facility, the Unfallklinik Clinic, in Ludwigshafen. Brandon died of his injuries on 12 May 2006. Medals, Awards and Badges Bronze Star Medal COL W. Bryan Gamble, Commander, 10th Cavalry Regiment, presented the Purple Heart to SGT Teeters on the evening of 26 April 2006. Burial Sergeant Brandon Lee Teeters is buried at Morgan City Cemetery and Mausoleum in Morgan City, LA. |
