Jonathan Fleming Blair was born on 4 January 1984, the son of Kent and Vicki J. Blair of Fort Wayne, IN. When the tragedy of 11 September 2001 occurred, he was a senior at Elmhurst High School in Fort Wayne. At that point he determined he would join the armed forces after graduation and do what he could to help make his country a safer place. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in October 2002, after graduation. On 19 November 2005, CPL Jonathan Blair was serving with Company B, 1st Battalion, 187th Infantry, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, based at Fort Campbell, KY. His unit was serving in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and CPL was on his second deployment. On that day, CPL Blair was Killed in Action when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated near his Humvee during combat operations in Bayji, Iraq.
