Kenny Dwayne Rojas was the son of Carlos and Denia Rojas. Music was a the center of Kenny's life. While in high school, Kenny was a vocalist for an amateur band comprised of classmates. He also won trophies for his roles in several school musicals. He met his longtime girlfriend, Gretel Mink, when they performed in high school drama productions, a passion they both shared. His post-military plans included studying Light and Sound Engineering at Fullsale College in Orlando, FL. He also considered becoming a firefighter or a chef. On 29 October 2005, U.S. Army Specialist Kenny Dwayne Rojas was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, based at Fort Stewart, GA, and currently deployed in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. On that day, SPC Rojas was killed in action while his unit was conducting a combat patrol near Bayji, Iraq, and a landmine exploded near his Humvee. Burial Specialist Kenny Dwayne Rojas is buried at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL, in Section 402, Site 72. |
