Biography:

Kevin Neil Morehead
Master Sergeant, U.S. Army

Kevin Neil Morehead enlisted in the U.S. Army in March 1989 and following Basic Training, completed Advanced Individual Training as a Medic at Fort Sam Houston, TX. Following his participation in Operation Desert Storm in 1991, he volunteered for Special Forces training and completed the Special Forces Qualification Course at Fort Bragg, NC, in 1994. After studying Arabic at the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School at Fort Bragg, Morehead was assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and participated in numerous overseas deployments that included combat operations in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

On 11-12 September 2003, Master Sergeant Morehead was serving with the 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) while deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

During that time, MSG Morehead’s unit was engaged in combat action against enemy forces at Ramadi, Iraq. MSG Morehead’s willingness to lead in the face of danger, with total disregard for his own safety, inspired the men of his task force and saved countless lives.
