Kenneth Wayne Harris, Jr.

Kenneth Wayne Harris, Jr. was born on 5 June 1980 in Charlotte, TN, the son of Kenneth W. Harris and Marie A. Harris-Steinmetz. He grew up in the Charlotte community, in Dickson County. During his junior year at Dickson County High School, Harris enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves.

After graduation from DCHS in 1999, he completed his Basic Training and Advanced Individual Trainng with the reserves. Kenneth was attending the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga when his unit was called to active duty in February 2003 and deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

In August 2003, SGT Harris was serving with the 212th Transportation Company, U.S. Army Reserve, Chattanooga, TN, in Iraq. On 20 August, SGT Harris was driving on the main supply route near Scania, Iraq, when he was involved in a two-vehicle accident that fatally injured him.

Burial

Sergeant Kenneth Wayne Harris, Jr. is buried at Union Cemetery in Dickson, TN.

In addition to his mother and father, he left behind a twin brother, Nathan Daniel Harris; a sister, Jennifer L. Harris; and a stepfather, Walter M. Steinmetz. He was also survived by his grandparents, aunts, uncles and many friends.
