Stanley Claus Campbell Steelworker Third Class, U.S. Navy Stanley Claus Campbell was born on 28 October 1946, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip B. Campbell. Campbell was a 1964 graduate of Portage Central High School. He joined the U.S. Navy in October 1964. While in the Navy, he had been stationed at Great Lakes Naval Training Station, at Port Hueneme, CA., with the Daviville, RI, Mobile Construction Battalion No.7 and in Spain for four months before being shipped to Vietnam. On 25 August 1966, Steelworker Third Class Stanley Claus Campbell was serving with NMCB-7, 3rd Naval Construction Brigade, USNAFORV, Thua Thien Province, South Vietnam. On that day, SWE3 Campbell was killed in non-hostile action when he sustained an accidental gunshot wound while returning to camp. His body was recovered. Medals National Defense Service Medal Honors The name Stanley C Campbell is located on Panel 10E Line 039 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall.
